Year 7 Communication

Dear Family,

As we approach the end of a truly remarkable year 7 journey, we want to highlight some fantastic upcoming opportunities and important updates that will help your child continue to thrive.

A Crucial Date for Your Diary: Parents' Evening – Thursday 19th June!

We are absolutely thrilled to invite you to our Parents' Evening on Thursday 19th June, from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM. This is a truly invaluable opportunity to connect directly with your child's teachers, celebrate their progress, and discuss their academic journey. Your partnership is vital, and we believe that strong communication between home and school is key to unlocking your child's full potential. Please make every effort to attend – we can't wait to see you there!

Important Dates to Note:

  • Thursday 19th June: Parents’ Evening (2:00 PM - 6:00 PM) – a fantastic opportunity for all year groups!

  • Friday 20th June: INSET Day – School closed to students, staff only attending for important training and development.

  • Monday 23rd June: Timetable Rollover – An incredibly exciting day as students begin their Year 8 timetable! Your child will receive a new timetable.

  • Friday 18th July: Last day of term and our Academy Culture Day.

A Fresh Start: The Year 8 Timetable Rollover!

Monday 23rd June marks a significant and exciting milestone for your child. It's not just a change of timetable; it's a chance for a true "new beginning" and a "reset" as they embark on their Year 8 journey. This rollover is designed with your child's success and well-being at its heart:

  • Knowing Their Teachers: By experiencing their Year 8 timetable now, students will have the invaluable opportunity to meet and get to know their new teachers before September. This familiarity will foster comfort and confidence.

  • Reducing Anxiety: We understand that change can sometimes be daunting. This early transition significantly reduces any potential anxiety around changes, allowing students to feel settled and ready for the new academic year.

  • Experiencing Year 8 Work: It's a fantastic chance for students to dive into some Year 8 work, preparing them for the challenges and excitement ahead.

  • Maintaining Momentum: This seamless transition ensures that academic progress is continuous, avoiding any loss of momentum over the summer break. It's about keeping their learning journey vibrant and engaging!

Our Expectations: Uniform, Attendance, and Equipment

As we move into this new phase and look towards the final half term, we want to gently reinforce our core expectations regarding uniform, attendance, and equipment. These elements are fundamental to creating a positive and productive learning environment:

  • Uniform: Students must continue to wear a Co-op Academy Leeds blazer or v-neck jumper. On PE days, please ensure they wear the academy’s branded PE kit – plain black kit is not permitted. Uniform items are available from Jo Brand Uniform shop.

  • Equipment: Please help your child to be fully equipped every day with:

    • A pencil case containing black pens, red pens, pencils, and a ruler.

    • An A4-sized bag to carry their planner.

    • No jewellery is allowed in the academy.

    • These items are available at a discounted price from the academy if needed.

  • Attendance: Excellent attendance remains paramount. Every day in school is a day of learning and growth, and consistent attendance ensures your child doesn't miss out on vital lessons and experiences.
