  • School Day Changes June 26

    Published 18/05/26

    Dear Parents and Carers,

I am writing to share the outcome of our recent consultation regarding our current 4pm finish on Monday afternoons.

Firstly, I would like to thank everyone who took the time to share their views with us. Your feedback is incredibly valuable as we work together to provide the best possible environment and schedule for our students.

The consultation showed overwhelming support for removing this additional session. Following this successful feedback, we have decided to move forward with this change.

What this means for your child:

    • Effective Date: Monday 1st June 2026

    • New Monday End Time: School will finish at 3:05 pm instead of 4:00 pm.

From Monday 1st June onwards, the school day on Mondays will align with the rest of our standard weekly timetable, meaning students will be dismissed at 3:05 pm every day.

We believe this adjustment will support student well-being while ensuring we maintain our high standards of learning throughout the rest of the week.

If you have any questions or specific concerns regarding travel or childcare arrangements due to this earlier finish, please do not hesitate to contact the academy office at: leed-info@coopacademies.co.uk.

Thank you once again for your continued support and collaboration.

    Yours sincerely,

    Natalie Jones

    Headteacher

  • Parliament Trip - GCSE Romanian

    Published 11/05/26

Students and staff from Co-op Academy Leeds have been supporting to lead the campaign to pressure exam boards to introduce GCSE Romanian. There are currently over 20 heritage language GCSEs, yet there are no accreditation opportunities for multilingual students who speak Romanian - the UK’s third most spoken language.

On the 27th April the campaign held a meeting in the Houses of Parliament to make their case to MPs. Eduard Avadanei and Larissa Grec, Year 10 students, made speeches in front of 120 politicians, ambassadors, and journalists about why this injustice needs to be corrected and the impact this would have on their future opportunities. One MP present remarked that the students were ‘future politicians’.

The students were a credit to the school, city, and wider Romanian community. Please find below images of Eduard making his speech, and alongside local MP Mark Sewards.
