It has been a very exciting half-term at Co-op Academy Leeds, with so much happening both inside and outside the classroom.
It has been a very exciting half-term at Co-op Academy Leeds, with so much happening both inside and outside the classroom.
As we reach the end of this halved term, I would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge the hard work and determination shown by our Year 11 students during what is undoubtedly a challenging and important period of their school journey.
Over the last few weeks, students have approached their GCSE exams with maturity. We are incredibly proud of the way they have conducted themselves, and I would like to thank you for the vital support you continue to provide at home.
Half Term Revision
Although the half-term break offers a much needed chance to rest and recharge, we strongly encourage all students to maintain a healthy balance between rest and revision. This is a crucial time in the exam seasons, and continued structured preparation will make a significant difference in the final outcomes. Students should revisit topics already assessed, considerate knowledge for upcoming papers and make the use of the revision resources and guidance provided by their teachers.
The timetable for the revision sessions is attached to this letter. We encourage all students to attend the sessions relevant to their subjects to make the most of this valuable opportunity.
Punctuality is critical.
Arriving late can cause significant stress for students and may, in some cases, prevent them from being allowed to sit the exam. It also disrupts other candidates and undermines the calm and focused environment necessary for exam success. We kindly ask that all students arrive at least 15 minutes before the scheduled start time to ensure they are fully prepared and settled. Students need to sign in with Miss Young at 8:15am
Uniform
Wearing the correct school uniform during exams is equally important. It maintains a sense of normality and school identity, reinforces expectations, and helps staff quickly identify students on the premises. Full uniform is a requirement throughout the exam season, and any issues with this should be addressed in advance with the school.
Eid
We are aware that some GCSE exams may fall on or near the dates of Eid celebrations this year, and we want to acknowledge the significance of this important religious occasion for many of our students and families.
However, we must also stress that GCSE exams are nationally timetabled and cannot be rescheduled for individual students. These exams are a vital part of a young person's academic journey and can significantly influence their future education and career opportunities. Missing an exam will result in a mark of zero for that paper.
We understand the desire to celebrate with family, and we are committed to supporting students in balancing their religious and academic commitments. When Eid falls on an exam day, we kindly ask that students attend their scheduled exam in full uniform. Once the exams are complete we will allow students to leave the school site to celebrate Eid.
Attendance
Year 11 attendance has been really good so far this exam season. Particularly on days where Core Subject exams have been at 9am, we have been really proud to see Year 11 students arriving bright and early. We would like to remind parents that students should be arriving before 8.25am to make the most of morning Booster sessions.
First Week Back: Key Information
When we return to the Academy on Monday 2nd June, students will go straight back into exams. Please ensure they arrive on time each day, in full school uniform, equipped with all the necessary equipment.
A full timetable has already been issued to students, and copies are available on the school website. We have made some changes to the Academy timetable the first week back, please see them outlined below.

Thank you for all of your support. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to get in touch. emma.pearson@coopacademies.co.uk.
Yours sincerely,

Our students led the Roma cultural sensitivity training with NHS workers from 12 GP practices. A watershed moment for the Roma community!
Amalia, our Year 11 Student, talked about her educational journey from Italy, where she was discriminated against, to the UK. She expressed her gratitude to Co-op Academy Leeds for allowing her to flourish, be herself and feel that she belonged. Andy Haigh, the director, thanked Co-op Academy Leeds for being so supportive of the Roma community and for being the most impressive key player for inclusion in the local community. We look forward to developing our partnership to support Roma students!
Dear Parent / Guardian
GCSEs Communications
I hope this letter finds you well. As we reach the midpoint of the GCSE examination period, I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued support during this important time for our Year 11 students.
Our students have shown maturity and commitment in approaching their exams, and we are incredibly porous of their efforts so far.
I would like to inform you of an important arrangement for Friday 23rd May. On this day, Year 11 students will sit their English Literature Paper 1 in the morning. Following the exam, there will be a brief assembly to share some key messages.
After the assembly, students will be dismissed from the Academy at approximately 12:00pm.
As always, if you have any questions or require further information, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Yours sincerely,
Miss Pearson
